Senior most officials of SGPC dismissed, chief Secretary resigns in case of missing of 328 Saroops (copies) of holy Guru Granth Sahib
Amritsar, August 27, 2020: Senior most officials of Shriomani Gurdwara Pharbandhak Committee (SGPC) here today were dismissed and shunted out even Chief Secretary Dr. Roop Singh's resign accepted amidst the controversy of missing of 328 Saroops (copies) of holy Guru Granth Sahib during the Executive meeting of SGPC here today.
Meeting was convened today out skirt of the city at village Walla while following directions from the Akal Takht, the supreme temporal seat of Sikhs to take stern actions against the officials of SGPC accountable.
SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal after the meeting, told media that SGPC chief secretary Dr. Roop Singh who had earlier submitted his resignation was today accepted.
Adding further Longowal said stern action against many more persons was initiated including Assistant Supervisor who was already retired, payment of his all the pending funds were stopped even recovery process initiated for tempering the official record of sale of copies of Guru Granth Sahib, besides criminal case to be lodged against him.
Clerk Baj Singh, Junior Secretary Gurbachan Singh, helper Dalbir Singh, Accountant Jujhar Singh and one more employee of Gurdwara Goindwal were dismissed from their services with immediate effect besides a criminal case to be lodged against them, said SGPC president.
He further informed that private binder Jaspreet Singh was declared black listed and his contract for binding canceled.
He said Secretary Finance Satinder Singh, Assistant Secretary Finance Nishan Singh and Secretary Religious Promotion Committee Manjeet Singh, Supervisor Publication Gurmukh were suspended with immediate effect and departmental enquiry was initiated against them.
He said a legal action to be initiated against former chief Secretary Mr. Harchran Singh who utterly remained failed to discharge his religious duty as he willfully didn’t initiated action against the errant officials who were accountable for the missing of 328 copies of Guru Granth Sahib.
Services of Charted Accountant Satinder Singh Kohli and Associates were canceled and legal action to be initiated against him.
However, just two days ago, Jathedar Akal Takht Gyani Harpreet Singh had asked the SGPC to convene meeting of ‘Executive Committee’ within a week period to take stern action against the alleged guilty officials of SGPC accountable for missing of 328 copies of holy Guru Granth Sahib.
Longowal while endorsing the views of Jathedar Akal Takht Gyani Harpeet Singh said that it was true that during thorough checking of ledgers keeping record of sale of copies of Guru Granth Sahib it was found that 328 copies of holy Guru Granth Sahib were missing and the period was from 2013 to 2015. He said all was done in-connivance with the official staff working inside the SGPC press, since official pages of official ledgers were found tempered that proved gross negligence and dishonesty. Moreover, no audit was carried out during this year which was deliberate act of SGPC staff involved in it. Moreover many copies of Guru Granth Sahib were sold out clandestinely without official billing, he quipped. JMS
